Surprisingly Dairy-Free Products
Updated: Mar 15, 2021
For anyone who has gone dairy-free, either by choice or by necessity, it isn't easy and there are many food products we often miss in our life. Many products are obvious when making the switch to dairy-free, but some may surprise you. I hope you discover some items on the list below that you assumed were packed with dairy, but are in fact, dairy-free and safe for you to enjoy!
1. Oreos

I missed out on eating Oreos for so many years because I just assumed they had dairy. Time to get dunking in my oat milk!
2. Chocolate
There is a ton of dairy-free chocolate on the market (thank goodness!). The general rule is that 70% and up is dairy-free. I try and go with bars that are specifically labelled as vegan just to be safe. If they are not labelled as vegan and contain no dairy on the ingredient list, it will most likely say "may contain: milk" underneath. They say it "may" contain milk because the company makes other chocolate bars in the same facility on the same equipment that contain milk and therefore, cross-contamination could occur. It is up to your own personal comfort level to determine if that is safe for you.

3. Marshmallows
This one might seem obvious, but since there are vegan marshmallows out there, people assume regular marshmallows may contain dairy, but they do not. Marshmallows are also white and creamy which people often associate with dairy.
4. Graham Crackers
This is an exciting one because you are now ready to enjoy smore's by the fire!
5. Mayonnaise
Many people assume that because it is white and creamy that there must be dairy in it, but that is not the case.

6. Ritz Original Crackers
Although they have a buttery taste, they actually contain no dairy.
7. Triscuit Crackers
Even some of the specialty flavours are dairy-free such as roasted garlic, rosemary and fire roasted tomato.
8. Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
They are flaky, smell buttery and yet contain no dairy. Score!
9. Nature Valley Bars
Apple crisp, maple brown sugar and peanut butter are dairy-free.

10. Duncan Hines Frosting
When you are pressed for time, this is a quick dairy-free icing option!
11. Duncan Hines Cake Mixes
Need a quick cake to go with that tub of frosting? Here is a safe option.
12. Jell-O Instant Pudding
Vanilla, Chocolate, Lemon and Pistachio are all dairy-free! There’s always room for Jell-O Pudding in your dairy-free life.

13. Hershey's Syrup
Enjoy a glass of chocolate milk by adding a squirt or two of syrup to your favourite plant-based milk.
14. Pop-Tarts (unfrosted)
15. Nutter Butter Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies

16. Teddy Grahams
Teddy Grahams make a cute cupcake decoration!
17. Sara Lee Frozen Fruit Pies
All of their fruit pies are vegan!
18. Life Cereal
19. Pringles Original

20. Skinny Pop White Cheddar Popcorn
For those who love SmartFood, here is a delicious dairy-free replacement.
21. Thai Kitchen Noodle Bowls
I hope you found a few exciting items that you can bring back into your life! Are any of these products particularly healthy? Not really, but in a pinch or in a place with limited options, this is useful information to know.
This post brings me back to reading ingredient labels. Never assume something does or doesn’t have dairy in it. Take a moment to read the label because otherwise, you could be missing out on something really tasty in your life!
